Applies to Beacon Find on iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and Android. The two apps are written separately but behave identically in every respect this policy describes.

Beacon Find collects nothing, stores nothing, and sends nothing anywhere. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party code. Everything it does happens on your device, in memory, and is gone the moment you close it.
Beacon Find measures the strength of Bluetooth signals from nearby devices so you can walk toward whichever one you are looking for. Signal strength is the
whole product; the app is a meter.
To do this it needs permission to use Bluetooth, which the system asks you for the first time you open the app. On Android that is BLUETOOTH_SCAN and
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT. It is used to:
scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices and read their signal strength;
connect briefly to a device to read its name, model number and manufacturer,
where the device chooses to publish them, so a list of identical grey rows
becomes something you can read;
ask the system which Bluetooth devices are already connected to your device,
since hardware with an active connection stops broadcasting and cannot
otherwise be found.
The app requests no other permission, and in particular it never asks for your location.
That is worth spelling out on Android, where it is not automatic. Bluetooth scanning there normally requires the precise-location permission, because a list of nearby radios can be used to work out where you are. From Android 12 an app may instead declare BLUETOOTH_SCAN with neverForLocation, which tells the system it will not use scan results to derive location and removes the location requirement. Beacon Find does exactly that, which is why it requires Android 12 or later: supporting older versions would have meant asking for your precise location purely to measure a signal, and that is a trade this app is not willing to make.
On iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, Bluetooth scanning does not require location access and the app does not request it.
Nearby device names, models, manufacturers, serial numbers and signal readings are held in memory only, for as long as the app is open. They are written to no file, no
database and no preference store, and they are not retained between launches.
Closing the app discards all of it.
Some device names identify people — a phone may broadcast its owner's name, for instance. Beacon Find displays such names so you can tell one device from
another. It never records or transmits them.
Where a device publishes a serial number, the app reads it and uses it for one purpose: recognising that two Bluetooth addresses belong to the same piece of hardware, so it appears as one row rather than several. Modern devices change their Bluetooth address every few minutes precisely to prevent being followed, and without this a single pair of headphones fills the screen. Serial numbers are never displayed and never leave memory, and they are discarded with everything else when the app closes.
No data is transmitted off your device. The app contains no networking code
of any kind.
No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising.
No third-party SDKs, frameworks or packages. The iOS app uses only Apple's
own frameworks; the Android app uses only Google's own (Jetpack Compose and
AndroidX). Neither includes a library from anyone else.
No accounts, sign-in, or identifiers of any sort.
No tracking, and no sharing of anything with anyone, because nothing leaves
your device to share.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.
Data-protection law gives you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. Beacon Find holds none, so there is nothing to request and nothing to delete. Removing the app removes everything it ever had.
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be published here with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be a clarification rather than a reduction in your privacy.
